Dharavi is a locality in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.[1] Its slum is the second-largest slum in the continent of Asia[2][3] (after Orangi Town in Pakistan) and the third-largest slum in the world,[3][4] with an area of just over 2.1 square kilometres (0.81 sq mi; 520 acres).[5] Holding a population of around 700,000 and a population density of over 277,136/km2 (717,780/sq mi), Dharavi is one of the densest areas in the world.
